Only really watched the US and Italian games off tivo since I miss them during work. Totally blanked on the games today, but the tournament is a joke but I'm glad it is being played as that means South Africa is ready to host for next year.

I can go in depth about my anger towards the Italian team's roster mistakes but I'll leave it at too much age, too many injuries from the season creating bad form and too much turnover from match to match. Hopefully the US can get past Spain, I'd like to see what reaction would come from making the finals.

Woot! I'm not a huge soccer person, but I always enjoy when the US beats a team that they probably shouldn't.

Was a great game today. Tim Howard played on his head and the US got lucky that Fernando Torres played like an average striker instead of one of the world's best like he's capable of. Josimer purely out-muscled Capdevilla for the first goal and looked like he's been there before rather than just a 19 year old out on the pitch.

Sunday will be rough no matter if its South Africa (haha imagine that) or Brazil without Bradley in the middle of the midfield with one of the softest red cards I've ever seen. Since his dad has called him up hes definitely been the best US holding midfielder and has come into his own offensively getting the ball from the opponent and setting up a counter to Donovan.

Everyone was going nuts here about the US-Brazil game too. Sucks the US lost, how the heck did they give up three unanswered in the second half?

Cause we played the most talented team in the world. Not the best "team" but some of the best players that can be assembled onto a pitch. The US made strides in this tournament and you can tell by getting to the finals it could have been a tipping point for soccer to be mainstream and get some more following. There's still more to do on the field to over come countries like Brazil but Bradley will have this team focus on World Cup qualifying first.
