Canes pick up their first win of the season in a shootout against Tampa. I'd tell you more, but it wasn't televised. Living in North Carolina has its cons, however few they may be ;).

Max marks the spot.

This is the great awakening, and the beginning of something beyond anyone's expectations.

NHL Winter Classic is tomorrow, New Year's Day, at 1 PM. I've actually missed everything but the highlights from the last two (three, counting the Heritage Classic), but I won't miss a second with the Flyers playing. They're getting snow now in Boston (we got about an inch or two overnight) but tomorrow they say just snow showers or drizzle. Either way, we're both playing in the conditions and the precipitation will make it a little more fun anyway.

I'm glad the Flyers have finally picked it up and are coming into the Classic full force riding a 4 game win streak and a 6-0 beatdown of the NY Rangers. In fact, the Flyers, above .500 again, jumped from one of the worst records/points in the entire league to the #8 spot in the East with the 4 game win streak. Funny how that works. We fell from the top to the bottom earlier this year and we're back, climbing up the Eastern Conference ladder. We'll be fine, I never doubted the boys.

Winter Classic was great. Wish the Flyers could've walked away with a win, but it was a great experience... and I was just watching from home. It was a feel good moment for the NHL today.

Too bad Timonen got a penalty for sliding into a player who wasn't even facing him. That late penalty led to a PP goal by Boston, and then they just capitalized on the late shift in momentum to win. We didn't bury our chances either, we had a couple of golden opportunities that we just didn't take advantage of.

It was a great hockey game. Last year's was more of a spectacle because of the skill aspect, but there wasn't a physical feel to the game. The Flyers & Bruins played a hockey game outside; they didn't try to put on a show. It was a great game, however there's one thing that pissed me off about it...

Boston's game winning goal came when there were TOO MANY players on the ice. There was plenty of time for the call, but there was none. It should have been a NO GOAL, but the refs decided to call what they wanted...yeah, Timonen's penalty wasn't a penalty.

But regardless, the Flyers lost the game. They should have scored at least five goals against Tim Thomas. There were so many breakaways and odd man rushes that the Flyers screwed up. Hit the god damn net people and you'll score. But it was a great, entertaining game.

Speaking of the Winter Classic ...

Apparently NBC is continuing in its quest to get Crosby-Ovechkin on its airwaves every time it puts hockey on. Surprisingly I'm not a fan of this.

I was there. It was effing amazing; so great that I'm going to go to Game 4! I'll be broke afterwards, but it's worth it.
