Official MLB 2010 Season Thread

Postby Pujols4MVP » Tue Mar 09, 2010 7:10 am

Spring games have been underway for a few days now, so I figured it wouldn't hurt to go on ahead and make this. Feel free to post some predictions on the upcoming season, I personally feel as though not a lot has changed and that the Yankees and Phillies are still the two best teams in baseball. I also believe Seattle was the big winners this off-season, they added a Cy Young candidate in Cliff Lee and a great player in Chone Figgins, who should fit nicely at the top of their lineup with Ichiro. They also added Milton Bradley, and if he can have a solid year they should have a good offense to go with great pitching.

So I'll go on ahead and throw out some early predictions:

AMERICAN LEAGUE
East: Yankees, Red Sox (WC), Rays, Orioles, Blue Jays
Central: Tigers, Twins, White Sox, Royals, Indians
West: Mariners, Angels, Rangers, Athletics

Cy Young: Justin Verlander
MVP: Mark Teixeira
Manager of the Year: Joe Girardi
Comeback Player: Ben Sheets
Rookie of the Year: Desmond Jennings

NATIONAL LEAGUE
East: Phillies, Braves, Marlins, Nationals, Mets
Central: Cardinals, Reds, Cubs, Brewers, Astros, Pirates
West: Rockies, Giants (WC), Dodgers, Diamondbacks, Padres

Cy Young: Roy Halladay
MVP: Albert Pujols
Manager of the Year: Bruce Bochy
Comeback Player: Troy Glaus
Rookie of the Year: Alcides Escobar

If the Yankees and Phillies play to their capabilities and reach the post-season, I think we'll be looking at a rematch. So my predictions for the playoffs are:

Yankees over Mariners 3-1
Red Sox over Tigers 3-2
Phillies over Giants 3-1
Cardinals over Rockies 3-1

Yankees over Red Sox 4-2
Phillies over Cardinals 4-3

Yankees over Phillies 4-2
