As mentioned, my genre of choice is RPG.
I have a major suggestion for anyone who has access to Playstation 1 or 2.
Play Suikoden. It's a 5 game series with 1 and 2 on the PS1, and 3-5 on the PS2. Each one, save for the fourth one, are excellent examples of great storytelling in an RPG. So often most RPGs boil down to a) I'm the hero and I'm gonna stomp you out villain! or b) I'm don't really wanna be the hero, but I'm still gonna stomp you out villain! Suikoden does it differently (well, 2 is kinda like that admittedly). This series is about opposing viewpoints in a war. Your side does questionable things, the people you think are "bad" are not necessarily so.
This may be as slight spoiler, so I'll leave names out, but you have an ally that joins your side in the first two games, who is the main antagonist of the third game. But what changed for him between the first two and the third? Not much at all. He's essentially continuing the fight, but now you're opposing him. So as the game starts painting him to be the villain, you sit there and question. Why should you be doing this? Maybe he is right?
It's quite an awesome experience.
You can DL Suikoden 1 on PS3, but good luck finding 2. You can get 3, 4, and 5 at Gamestops used on the cheap if your diligent. Check them out, you won't be disappointed.
